Who is Natalie?
Natalie Schriefer, MFA has been a freelance writer since 2016. Her writing has appeared online with HuffPost, CNN, Insider, Bloomberg, Wired, NBC Think, MTV, and more. She focuses on health, gaming, and identity (particularly bisexuality).
She has received scholarships and fellowships from Murphy Writing, the Op-Ed Project, Grub Street, the Hudson Valley Writing Center, and the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.
Natalie has served on the editorial boards of three different literary magazines, focusing primarily on fiction (which was her first love!). Her poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net.
As an academic editor, Natalie began proofreading articles in 2015. Though she initially worked only in computer science and engineering, she expanded in 2018 to work in the health and human services as well, including disciplines such as nursing, social work, and athletic training. In this role, she helps faculty prepare and submit both short-form articles and full-length manuscripts. She has also worked on dissertations. Her specialty is APA 7.
Natalie has written about academic editing for Inside Higher Ed, and her graduate research was published in the Irish Journal of American Studies in 2022.
When she isn’t working, Natalie loves to spend time outside—walking, running, hiking, playing sports, anything to be out in the sun. She’s also an avid gamer, currently addicted to The Legend of Zelda.
